Fork Leg Install? ‘67 Bridgestone
« on: May 11, 2022, 05:50:27 PM »
Struggling with install of fork legs on this Bridgestone 350 GTR. On this bike, the fork leg springs are on the outside of the upper tubes. To get the upper tubes through both parts of the triple tree the springs must be compressed to get the upper tube through the upper section of tree triple tree so the tube can be bolted and the lower pinch bolt tightened. At a loss as how to do this? Probably overlooking something obvious— but what?

no you are not , its just an awkward job .  you have to take the top yolk off . pull the tube through to the approximate hight then while you are holding it tighten the lower yoke pinch bolt . do the same for the other then refit the top yoke . if you are lucky you wont have to remove the headlamp ears .

ive just revisited this job on my kawasaki avenger and realised there is a much easier way to do it . the front wheel spindle has the same thread as the fork top nut so you can use this to draw the fork tube through the yolk without removing anything . i suspect the bridgestone will be the same .
