Today I built the carb fuel bowl vent line system for the RS34's. Each carb has a small bowl vent hose barb on each side. I join the 2 on each carb with a tee so there's 4 lines instead of 8 lines to deal with. While doing it on this bike I realized that I need to redo part of the bowl vent lines on the 80' GS 1100E's RS36's that we swapped in last year. Hard acceleration can slosh a little fuel out of the bowl vents and I had a couple of low spots in the lines that collected fuel.
All that's left that I know of is install the battery and hold down, trim the repop fuel petcock handle because it hits the #1carb top and put the gas tank on. I bought a repop and a rebuild kit for the original because I didn't want to cut up the original. I still spent $100 less than a Pingel petcock. We tested the lights, turn signals, horn and starter circuits the other day. We're waiting on a centerstand stop from Delkevik because they don't put it in the LTD exhaust system because they don't come with one. They are shipping me one for free. ;D
We might try to start it up tomorrow, we'll see. We might get a break in the weather during the next few days for test rides. 8)

We started it up today. It fired right up like it had ran yesterday. Warmed it up and a small adjustment of the idle it runs great. It's pouring rain here so no test ride yet. We're also waiting on the centerstand stop to get here from Delkevik to start test riding.

That's great news and satisfying when it is close to spot on after start-up from a long slumber. Lots of love went into this refresh and it shows. Look forward to hearing more and the next project bike to follow along...
Congrats again!

Yesterday I finally got in the first test ride on it. Everything is good, my only complaint is the rear shocks are too stiff even with the preload backed all the way off. It was a little chilly out at 45° but the road was clean and dry. On the other hand my dirt road was muddy and I got the front of the motor and exhaust all plastered in mud. Now it looks like one of my bikes. 8)

She came out gorgeous Kelly! A change of springs could help sort out the rear shocks if you can find some that are lighter. Question is, what spring rate do you think you need and any idea what you are starting from...?
That big front rotor looks pretty interesting...so smooth and shiny.

Good to hear,  I did the same thing today,  I took a quick ride today, it's 45 degrees here but the streets are reasonably clean here. Keep her clean she's a beauty. Good shocks are the last pricey frontier, wait till it warms up and then re-evaluate. Great looking ride.

The Kawasaki came out wonderful  :)
You going to let the relative that gave it to you take it for a ride now that it's done ?  :D

Also that particular V&H is what is known as a sidewinder.  Severely limits right turn ground clearance and lean angle...not a problem in drag racing that it was designed for.  V&H made a very nice street/road race pipe also.  You just don't see them as much.
If it works good, it looks good...

Great looking bike, I think you will like riding it.

I have fond memories of my 1000 LTD, was a great bike and the reason I bought my Z1 900.

We replaced the stock rear shocks with a new set of Progressive series 12 shocks. The stock ones were way too stiff even with the preload backed all the way off. I had a couple of electrical gremlins to sort out. The wires for the off/on/off switch got pinched and the solenoid was sticking. Once the paint on the mount is dry I can install the new solenoid and see if it is fixed.
