Nice one mate, thanks for the info. I’ll try tracking down a C bracket.

I thought the Lester would go straight on, but then I would have wire rear wheel and mag front.

Now I put a bit more thought into it I could just add a disc to my wire wheel as the tire is new and the wheel is only 4 or 5 years old.

The Lester and the wire are interchangeable, so the amount of work to install the dual disk is exactly the same regardless of which wheel you use.

The CB500K, 550K and F, 750K1-6 and F0/1, early 750A, and 75-77 GL1000 all use the same front hub (the 750A and GL use an aluminum rim) so all of these bikes use the same Lester front wheel. When I sold my 550F I kept the Lesters that were on it and installed wires. My 750F has the front Lester on it now. Since I used an F2/3 front end I had to shim the rear mounted calipers to work and use 550 rotors, but if I had installed it on the stock F1 front end it would have bolted right up using the stock F1 rotor.

The 500 and maybe 550 have a slightly narrower rim than the bigger bikes and use a smaller section tyre, hub is same though BUT over the years thete are 3 different hubs i believe,
1 slightly narrower with 2 flats milled for speedo drive

2 wider with 2 flats

3 same width as 2 but no flats milled

BryanJ, I think you may be mistaken abou front rim size differences.  I was thinking they all use 1.85x19 rim with 3.25 tire.  The rear on the 500/550's is smaller

I thought the 750 used a 3.50x19 but perhaps that was just what we fitted back in the 70's but age(and guiness) does mpare the brain cells

Here is a pic of two c brackets, one modified for dual discs.

I finally managed to track down a caliper and C bracket (I'd been searching using SOHC instead of just using CB750)

Question is...... Does it matter what year model bike the bracket and caliper come from?  My bike is a 1972 and the cheapest set up I can find is from a 1969 - 1971.

Once again thanks for your thoughts.

Nope, if its a C bracket they are all the same BUT you will need to modify it to fit the oposite hand, i am sure somewhere on here are accurate instructions

Thank you gentlemen

Now I need to set up a reshipping account because a lot of blokes selling on ebay USA don't offer international shipping any more.

I just set up a re shipping account with an address in Torrance, CA.

They offer 5 or 6 different shipping methods varying in price.

Thank you very much for the reply's and info

I have half a thought that I bought a C bracket one time, but I can't find it so maybe not.
You can use the 'T' bracket in place of it, if that's all you have.
Sorry Mark, but the T bracket won't work in place of a C bracket. Believe me, I tried! ;)

Yep, Scottly, you're right!
The hangers can't be interchanged without also changing the fork lower - which is probably what I did in 1973.
The swing mount's adjuster hole ends up in the wrong place when you try to use the later swing bracket with the C-hanger, too.  I have attempted this when short of parts on a wreck rebuild (he rode into the car's rear license plate...)

Would a set of cb750f2 lower legs make this easier? Or does this create more work in sourcing callipers etc?

Ideas here!
https://good-bits.co.uk/product/honda-f750-front-end-set-up/

I like this set up

Or you could do a 75-77 GL1000 front end swap for about 20% of the cost and get the same 37mm fork tubes and also rear mounted calipers that twin piston calipers from the DOHC bikes bolt right up to.

+1 on this change: it works like a drop-in part on the K8 (done that), because of the different fork ears on the later bike. It doesn't have a 'landing' for the fork boots with the K0-6 versions, though, so you might wish to find some K7/8 headlight bucket supports (aka fork ears) to go with it?

I remember looking for Goldwing forks years ago for this very reason and until just this minute it had slipped my mind.

Fitting dual discs is something that I want to do for sure, but now I'm thinking of the latter twin piston calipers on Goldwing forks might be worth searching for again.

Thanks

I've already found a couple of forks from a 77 & 76 Goldwing for sale.

What year model DOHC  are we talking about please?  Are we talking CB900 calipers?  I thought the CB750 DOHC had single piston calipers.

Thanks again for any info.

The 35mm SOHC 750 F2/F3 forks will slide right into your K2 triples, and use the same style caliper mounts as the GL; this is what BankerDanny and I have done. Danny chose to keep the F single piston calipers that were common to the GL and DOHC until 1982, while I chose to use a single two piston caliper, which started in 1982, with a larger rotor. You can use the K2 front wheel if you fit thinned 550 rotors with either the single or two piston calipers, using factory parts. More info here: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,89771.0.html

Scottly, this dual piston front caliper which you've mounted to your bike from an 82' CB750 DOHC/GL1100;is that the one with the large diameter dual pistons ?
How does that single brake caliper on your left side along with the huge rotor work good for you ? I would imagine it saves on some of the unsprung weight of using two rotors and calipers.
