cb750 1972 Cafe(?) build
« on: December 06, 2022, 02:51:53 PM »
Picked this bike up not long ago in pieces have started building a frame for the rear after getting everything more or less assembled.
turning into a fun project this forum has helped a lot figuring out the motor specifics, seeing as i bought it almost completely stripped hah.

i have one small question about oil tanks, what is the smallest capacity i can safely run? i understand the stock tank has a capacity somewhere around 3, is it safe to run 2-2.5?

Are you keeping the motor stock or doing any performance mods?  Your profile says you are located in Florida.  These motors already can run HOT in warm climates without a good flow of cool air to the motor. I would keep the oil bag as large as possible.  If you mod the motor and you are planning to get stuck in traffic or are going to ride the bike at a track, you might want to consider an oil cooler.  This will cool your oil AND increase capacity because of the added volume of the lines and cooler.

my oil tank is looking to hold about 3.25-3.3 quarts when i am done, and no i plan on it being more or less stock

most of my changes will just be cosmetic
the original question stemmed from size/ space constraints but i found a work around thankfully
