I am in process of ordering a set a of pistons.

Probably going with cruzinimage, but just learned of these.

Has anyone used them?

Never heard of them.

Shipping costs from the UK to US is usually crazy expensive.  :-[

It appears that if you buy them through ebay shipping is free.

Should we be concerned not knowing what the CI pistons are made from?
The IMD pistons are made from silicon aluminium alloy, but I don't know if that is good either.

I used the IMD pistons in my CL77 build recently and I am particular. I would choose the IMD over Cruzin Image. The Cruzin pistons are good quality, the rings not so much. Especially with the CB350F posts on this forum with many failures of the Cruzin image sets that seemed to be a ring quality issue.

My machinist is about as OCD as myself and was very impressed with the IMD product. Both the piston and rings quality. You can contact them if you have any questions, which I did and their response was timely and answered my bore and ring spec questions.

There are a number of US based sellers of the IMD products too, so if you contact them for that info I am sure they will refer you to a US seller. Not being US based, I bought directly from IMD Britain with no issues or shipping costs that were expensive.

IMD responded to an email I sent and said that their pistons were basically a 410 style piston.  I have the 392.

Can I assume the 410 style will not work in '78K cylinder/head?

IMD are a reputable supply company here in the UK and I know people that have used their products. Although personally, we only buy piston/ ring kits from Cruzinimage. There was a conversation somewhere ( can't remember where) that IMD buy their standard Honda CB SOHC/4 products from Cruzinimage anyway. The parts definitely come in the same boxes that's for sure.

BTW, discovered that both Cruizinimage and IMD are both made in Taiwan.

I'm sure that would confirm what I said above, that IMD sell Cruzinimage parts.
It works out no more expensive for us to buy all our piston / ring kits from Cruzinimage, even though IMD are here in UK 🙄🙄🙄🙄. Cruzinimage customer service is excellent though and our stock usually only takes 4 working days to arrive from them.

Order a clutch set if yours are not new.
CI has good price on them.

Do not forget the tight TOTAL clearance bore-piston dia.
