CBR250F -- anyone had one?
« on: January 09, 2023, 06:44:36 PM »
I've been curious about the CBR250F and think it would make a good bike for me in my situation (not ditching any of the SOHCs, just thinking about broadening my horizon a little). Anyone had one? Experience? My 350F is good for puttering around a little and getting me to work and back (about 10 minutes' ride), but I'm curious if anyone's had a CBR250F how it held up over longer distances (90-120 minutes) in terms of comfort and not working the bike too hard. But, on the flip side, I have heard they prefer to be revved up past 10K or so, so how are they with a little traffic?

Plus things like maintenance, parts availability, etc.

I guess I am also just sort of interested in something that I can wind up and go on (red line 18k?).

Anyway, curious to hear from anyone else who's had one...

** I should add: I'm 6'2" and somewhere around 210lbs...

A local Boston-ish member Phactory (Phil) has or had one I think, maybe send him a PM. He hasn't logged in since 2013 but he might respond.

I remember a couple in India on YouTube touring far and wide on a pair of those bikes, and they worked quite well in all respects.

Seems it would be too small of a bike for you to spend any amount of time on except a quick spin around the block?

One of the things I'm wondering but people say that about 350Fs/400Fs too and I'm comfortable on them. I'm considering bringing a 550 down here which would be better for longer trips but nowhere near as nimble in the city. Traffic here can be crazy depending on the time and I split lanes (in 1st or 2nd, and verrrry carefully...), but a 550 seems a little too big and clunky for that.

I'm 6'1" and ride a little CB125S all the time;you might have someone trim some of the foam out of the rear of your seat so you don't run into that mini-hump when you slide back.
The more flat your seat is the better.
