The screw that the points wire connector is insulated from the metal body of the point assembly by three fiber washers: two on the outside of the flange, one under the screw head and one under the nut, plus a small washer with the ID the same as the screw, and the OD, the same as the hole on the flange. I believe this is what Deltarider mentioned initially.
I had a situation on a car where this washer was cracked. This resulted in acceptable running at low RPM, but an intermittent miss at high RPM.
