Current pics showing the numerous unused fairing wiring I removed. Got all the blinkers and wiring installed. This week plan to flush cooling system and install new radiator hoses. Then install the handle bar wiring, order master and caliper kits.

Did you pop the timing belt covers and check the belts and tensioner? Your shop looks very “comfortable”.

That's a lot of wiring ...

Definitely check the belts and tensioner.

Scotchbrite pads can give a good approximate of the satiny finish many times Honda used on cast parts

Looking at the belts won't do much. If the belts are over 5 years old they need replacement as the rubber hardens up and the bends get set, belt failure is bound to happen at the worst of times and high cost to rebuild the motor is not worth the $50 savings......unless you like playing Russian Roulette.

They give the same advice at Goldwingdocs, if you don't know the age of your belts swap them out until you do.

Belts can be automotive store source, NGW group will have info on Gates part numbers/auto application.

Tensioner, South Sound Honda order...

Citric Acid crystals soak in hot water overnight will eat any deposits in radiator while not affecting the metal. You can get 5 pound bag on Amazon fairly cheaply. Used in beer making and canning...

Yes,there are timing marks on the camshaft sprockets and it's an easy job.
The OEM timing belts have excellent markings/lines;they line-up great:they don't really seem necessary if you've done a couple of these but helpful for a 'first timer'.

You can get the belts at any auto parts store. There is a tutorial over at the NGW tech board. The hardest part of the job is getting the damn covers off, not a lot of room to get a wrench on the nuts. Rad through the instructions, you need to secure the cam pulleys so they don't rotate when you release tension on the belts.

Johnie,the OEM timing belts are very good.
There's a few different other ones you can get that will fit also.
I read about Subaru part# belts that will cross reference to fit too.

I think it's wise to get a pair of belts which have as good of quality/longevity as OEM Honda,which is why I mentioned the Subaru.

I prefer fine steel wool pads,it's just a bit more clean-up with the fine steel wool bits..
I like red Scothbrite on real heavy corrosion and the fine grey is excellent.

That's a good point I've never thought of. New tensioners are NLA, are the tensioner bearings replaceable?

I replaced the belts and pulleys
The belts were Gates Belts Gates T274 Timing Belt
The pulleys I rebuilt using automotive pulleys bolted onto the original brackets.

The pic of the OEM seat in post #100...you may wonder why the back is up a bit. I just set the seat on there for looks so it's sitting up on top of the mounting bolts.

Today I removed the carbs. I was able to get 2 of the 4 slides out. The choke and those 2 slides are froze as are all the floats. Considering taking them to a friend or to Randakk's for intensive care cleaning and rebuild unless you guys give me other ideas to consider. I don't have an ultra sonic and these look much more complicated than the 750's. Drained the coolant and like the oil it was very clean. Sure looks like whoever put it away for the season had intentions to ride in the spring some 20 years ago. As long as I have the carbs out going to change the coolant line o-rings and thermostat.
