Odometer stuck
« on: April 03, 2023, 01:52:34 AM »
My odometer is stuck and can't click over the 9 number. I hope I'll be able to fix this myself but I've never opened one of these. I don't want to send it to repairs.
Any ideas?

Number barrels can stick together if bike sat for decades usually requires replacement.
If bike was ridden speedo cable will brake or nylon gear will be destroyed.

Before I dig deeper into this I just want to show what's happening. When the white number gets to where it should pull the next, it does it a little bit but can't turn it over. Any ideas before I try to take it apart?

The 1000 and 100 numbers were stuck a little off. I forced them into place, gave a little click and now it works

Possibility to reset it when apart.
I have read about gauge repairs on this forum, reset and damper fluid refill included.

Good that it works now, but elaborate what you mean on "gave a little click" so others that read this later(using the search features)will know what to do to fix theirs.

Edit...Did you leave out the word it? Should it read  "it gave a little click" when you forced the numbers in place? Just my 4am mind set working.....

BTW I watched the video and it shut off too soon (before getting to where it should advance mile) and no explanation by you in the video, so it didn't do much to see what it wouldn't do to show the "odometer stuck" as the tenths were moving in the video.
