Been studying tires for my k5 rider and was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with the Metzler Block C tires? I’ve ran Metzler’s on other bikes for years with great success. Good mileage and excellent traction. I like the tread pattern on these. Anyone ran them? Many thanks!!

Here is the tread pattern for people to judge. One description I saw was for "small and medium" bikes. Personally I would go for something different. This actual picture had a call sign for a CL350 under it.

I actually saw that set and backed out of the site and looked around again and there’s another set that is rated for the 750 and the tread pattern is different. I started to write the Metzlers off until I looked a little further. Thanks!!

Metzeler have a good reputation and a lot of guys run them...

Personally, I havent purchased them but I believe one of the bikes I bought [and eventually sold] had them, possibly the Lasertec....

I ran Metzler ME880’s on my 08 Yamaha FJR for years with great results. I really like Metzlers. Unless they’ve changed, they’re a really good tire.

I've used Metzeler ME11 front and ME88 rear for the last 30,000kms.

The first set I used for 20K through Africa and Middle East; they handled everything well ... except sand. The second set is still going strong.

They are not easy to find though; when I changed them in Italy, there was only one set in the country! Took nearly a week for them to get to me.

Luckily I wasn't in a hurry; went to visit Heraculum - a mini-Pompeii - while waiting; some pics thereof attached.

Personally I go with Avons, but my tubes are Metzler. Can't go wrong with either brand imo.

Avon’s have joined that unobtainum group. One thing that came to mind while I’ve been searching is that the CB 750 would be considered a medium rated bike in today’s super bike world. My last two bikes weighed right at 800 lbs and it cost me nearly $700 to replace their rubber. Plus, a lot of the tires people have been running on the CB don’t exist anymore.  Very hard to know which way to go.

I wonder what the date code is on that ME88.  To my knowledge, Metzeler hasn't made the ME88 since 2012. I have been crying about it ever since. ;D It was my go-to rear tire on the 750 after I put the first one on in 1991.

Right now I have a Metzeler Lazertec front (the old ME33 and a great tire) and ME77 rear on it.  Back in the old days, the ME77 was a budget tire that wasn't known for long life.  Still is a cheaper tire, but I went with because I haven't been putting 5000-6000 miles on it a year since 2018.  The ME77 handles fine, is still in production and a quick search shows they are available in 4.00 x 18.

I’ve ran Metzelers in the past on the front and back with similar tread pattern to the me77s
They were then advertised as a good wet, dry, good all around traction. After wearing out a set of “Conti Twins” of the day I thought they were an improvement. Better in off camber transitions in everyday highway conditions. Everyone had their favorite corner back when we were invincible. They would do it a little faster and a little longer than the twins, but they would give it up, controllably, if pushed. They were a good tire back then, perhaps a little softer compound compared to the old Twins.

I hope Goodyear does the right thing. We really like them and they have a great selection of sizes for old bikes.

I run Shinkos on everything. Never had problems with them. 

Thinking about going for more agressive thread for the sidecar.

I started with Shinko 805 I think on the Vstrom and it isn't as good as what I wanted. Dunlop Trailmax Mission, put that on the rear. Won't be putting another Shinko on the front, will pony up the 170 for the Mission.

I usually dont promote fhe stay-puft tire mascot brand.
(Having tried their modern touring tires and finding their limit isn't the same as mine)
That said...

Michelin has produced a "Road Classic" series of tire.  They're not cheap, but they are in stock.  In sizes the older models need (i.e. tall and skinny)

With the kind of speed ratings thay i may have to take a pair to Bonneville.
