Check out this new bike
« on: March 13, 2007, 07:16:53 AM »
Now, I admit I am not the biggest Harley fan in the world, But I stopped by my local Harley shop the other day and they had one of these on the floor. I've gotta admit, it looked pretty cool.

The Harley Davidson Sportster - Nightster
(you just have to pick it out of the line up... not too hard)

They had one in Orange. It looked (and sat) pretty cool. Nice old school, slammed down feel to it.

They have a whole article on it in the latest Cycle World. It was designed by some new young guy at Harley.

And I agree with you KB02, it's a pretty nice looking bike.

Opening text on the Sportster said "50 years of scorching asphalt". Forgot to add (and 30 years of staining it).

I have to say the Nightster is a nice looking bike even if it has essentially no suspension travel to speak of. I say "have to" because it almost hurts to say I like a Harley. Until recently they've been everything I don't like in bikes - pretentious, poor handling, unreliable and poorly made. I hear reliability is much better now, but I still would have a hard time walking in and buying one if only because they are the official bike or motorcycling posers. Besides, all of my tools are metric!

Well Harley is finally getting into the marketing arena with the rest of the world...  They have finally realized that Japanese companies who are copying their styling and creating more reliable products are in fact stealing away their market share.  Marketing new ideas is the only way for Harley to attract fresh customers, since most of their bikes haven't really changed in the last 20 years (except the VRSC line, but who wants to buy those ugly monstrosities?).

Slightly altering their current products to make them more "hip" is really the way to go for HD.

I just cant stand the angled up front end of any sportster.
It just looks... dumb.
Little better if they lowered the front end, a la:
No.
