Carb rebuild
« on: July 31, 2023, 11:01:39 AM »
Hi gents,
I'm starting to reassemble the rack of carbs on my 350F. I put new felt washers on the throttle arm shafts and they're pretty tight. When I disassembled the carbs, the throttle arms flopped around. With the new felts, the arms are "firm" but smooth to move.
Is that a normal fit?
Thank you

No experience with these carbs but yes there shouldn't be play in the throttle shaft it should be a tight fit. Same thing with the arms. If they are fastened to the shafts there shouldn't really be any movement.

Did you make sure when sliding the throttle shafts through you got all orings, plastic washers and bushings on the throttle shaft or shafts apparently if there are any?

Did you ultra sonic clean the carbs? The cleaner and the felts don't mix. :D

I disassembled them completely then soda blasted them. That took care of the old felts. ;D
Then they went in the ultrasonic cleaner so I'm starting with clean and dry carbs. The new felts are pretty snug but the throttle shafts move very smoothly. I just want to be certain I'm doing it right the first time.

If everythings working smoothly that's a good sign. Check the part fiches on CMSNL to make sure everything is in the correct order.
