Cool Tools II
« on: September 08, 2023, 07:53:41 AM »
Can’t find the old thread. Used this one this morning. This “Tilt-Box” is sold in fancy wood working tool section. Has small super magnets on three sides and is used for measuring the true angle of a saw blade in a table saw, chop saw, etc. It can display a true reading or you can set it to level zero on any machine bed and then measure the angle of the cutting blade or tool head in relation to the table.

I use it all over the place, (today was the static angle of a brake light controller) but mostly on the race car to measure camber at each corner. Extraordinary technology that gets less expensive every day..,…

We got those when we were building the Alcohol funnycar chassis. I've been known to sit mine on top of a long level to span a gap. They are useful for checking U joint angles and frame neck rake also. My allegedly +10* rake drag bike frame is actually +6*.

Don…. Not long ago, a carpenter friend showed me his electronic protractor. It has two 12-14” legs and as you open it up it displays the angle digitally (screen looks just like the tilt box). He also builds circle track and vintage drag racing frames, and swears it’s his favourite tool. I looked at one the other day, still pretty expensive!

Made by Bosch. A very good tool. I've used them in cutting custom molding angles.

Agreed! I’ve used it and incredibly accurate and clever!
