CB400F clutch basket cush drive
« on: October 03, 2023, 11:35:17 AM »
I've started restoring my CB400F which I bought new in 1977.  It became rather tired at 65,000 miles in the early1980s so it was put to  one side for attention another day.  After working on it, I think I probably chose the wrong bike to restore!

Anyway we there is some play between the outer clutch basket and its drive gear.  There are six rivets and, I understand six rubber cushes.  There is a few mm of rotational play between gear and basket and I expect the rubbers have deteriorated.  Does anyone know where replacements can be obtained please.

I will need a better rear mudguard at some stage but there do not appear to be any reproductions available at present - unless you know better.

David Silver Spares caters to the cb400f and cb450 somewhat… check with them.

Those rubbers are only available from Japan, try MC-Again website to start with. However, it is pretty rare for anyone to change them, they are such a smooth bike that a little extra lash in the driveline is hard to notice.
