Question for you GL1000 guys...
« on: November 13, 2023, 11:26:05 AM »
What oil are you using in the forks? My service manual from 75-76 calls for ATF. Don't think they had specific "fork oil" back then. I've heard Belray is supposed to be good, but then checking on line I see some guys like the ATF 10w. Maybe Belray 10w? Some guys said there was a fork oil that had seal conditioners, but not sure if that was false advertising or not. Thanks for the input.

10-15W is what I would consider. 15W if you are a big guy or the bike is running a front fairing. Otherwise, 10W Belray fork oil should do fine. I'm a big guy so I tend to run 15W after servicing the forks.
The thing with fork oil is there is no standard between brands...the weight figures aren't always similar in dampening between a 10W in a Belray and 10W in a Motul
