It was probably built in the late 20's or early 30's ( WPA).  It is in sections that aren't attached to each other, I think for replacement. Baaaaah, it will be fine😁

  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
Well done Jim, I’m always surprised how long it takes me to not do that many miles, even when I don’t stop for food. The DT250 struggles to keep up with freeway traffic so I purposely stay on the “B” roads when riding it. The bigger bikes have no problems zipping along at freeway speeds (and a lot more) but as I grow older I think I’m slowing down and just enjoying the ride more than being in a rush to get to the destination. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

There were some spirited moments, but the sightseeing was fun too! Thanks Terry.

What a cool ride Jim.  I'm all about twisty roads with elevation changes!  Thanks for taking us along with all the photos.

Jim, great photos! I love some of the California mountain roads, scenic and super fun...
Fantastic vistas you can enjoy. Took back way from friends place on Lancaster years ago after flying out to pick up 245 wagon he found for me in Burbank at a good price. The tires needed replaced and an alignment and the fast mountain roads on the back way into LA to skip a lot of LA for dropping car at shipper was a blast. Two-eheel Timmy lived up to his reputation and the car tried to keep up our run at speed...it was a blast. I grew up in the mountains of Appalachian chain and the foothills so curvy mountain roads were 2nd nature and I'm a g-force junky. Looks like you had fun and even taking things slower you can enjoy cury roads and enjoy the views more. I appreciate all the photos.  Glad you enjoyed the ride and got out there...

Sounds like Angeles Crest Hwy  (ACH), David. That road actually used to wrap around to where I was riding in San Gabriel canyon until an earthquake took some of it out a few years back. I'm going to check that out one of these days.

Thanks Dennis, this ride was along the Glendora ridge, lots of fun. If I am putting up too many pictures with my rides just let me know. Believe it or not I am usually holding back quite a few.

Yes, it was Angeles Crest Highway...
Went to the Vasquez Rocks where the weird alien scenes on a planet where Kirk *(jerk) made gunpowder to defeat his opponent he was forced to fight...
Bizarre humble of rocks...interesting place but cannot get near them for bike or vehicle photos as the park entry is protected. Cannot imagine the mess they would be if people could...
Angeles Crest is a fun road with great vistas and can give you some altitude and heat relief. 1st time I ever overheated brakes and experienced brake fade in a 240...brake pads where who knows what and fluid old...we were pushing it hard, 55-60 through the curves, next to no one on the road that weekday morning. Buddy worked in Palmdale and got to sit outside the fences and see a bunch of SR71s sitting about sbd one taxid out for takeoff. Had to leave before it took off... Edwards your one day while there was really cool with some active research and very cool planes in the hangars we got to get up close to in the tour.

I'm loving the photos Jim, keep 'em coming.  It's like coming along for the ride!   ;)

I often feel guilty for not having more photos, but I seldom see anything that would be of interest on my rides.  Not a lot to see in rural Ohio...

#6  168km
A sunny day with arctic winds.
My Woolpower400 sweater under the leather jacket.
12-15*C

Started with lunch ca 40km not the shortest way from home.
Strömsholm, known for horse riding, races and a big veterinary hospital for horses and smaller animals plus a nice old castle.

Continued on the old road going south thru a city called Köping via  Munktorp. Took a nice road passing Kolsva and Bernshammar were I could park for photos near a lake.

Later on  almost to Skinnskatteberg, turned right heading Ramnäs, Skultuna and home.
Looking forward to next ride.

I'm still stuffed when writing this 5 hours after the burger meal ;D

Went out yesterday on the rescue bike but only did about 50 km so not counted. Still trying to get the carbs right and didn’t want to get too far from home.
Made up for it today for #34 with 269 km. on the wing. Went up to Collingwood, On area on the south end of Georgian Bay/ Lake Huron. Few rain showers but great ride.

Nice pics, Per. Looks like a perfect day because that's too cold for bugs! I agree with the rest, that burger looks good. I don't think I could even carry that meal, let alone eat it all.

Lash, it looks like mother nature is finally starting to wake up in Canada now. Keep up that awsome pace and the photos look good too. They always help for a nice visual reference of a ride...........but that's just me.

Thanks for your comments guys!
I think it should be possible to order a smaller kebab with bread.

Or a kebab roll. Take most of it back home.
I had a period when I bought kebab rolls, eating home very often.
Cut a piece and warmed it up in the micro. Added sour creme and rather hot Harissa (Tunisian chili paste).
One restaurant made large rolls. Perfect for 3 evening meals, sometimes 4.

Red wine a perfect combo ;D

Per and Lash great pictures! It's always good to see spring popping in the frozen north country.

I had the same temperatures as Per yesterday here in southern NH, 17c(62°) to start ride #5 @ 1:30pm to send off The Lone Rider(Sean from Belfast Northern Ireland) on the next leg of his Belfast 2 Belfast by Bike, 1974 K2 that he bought in 1978. We left my place with the sun shining with scattered clouds and headed west. We stopped in the collage city of Keene as Sean wanted some coffee, as we sat down outside at a table up comes this white haired guy saying in his English if we happened to be the blokes riding the 750s across the street. Sean says in his Irish brogue the he doesn't sound like a local to here(jokingly). The guy says he is a world traveler (by motorcycle) but is with his wife (this time in a rented hearse/minivan, jokingly) we had them sit down and wasted an hour telling each other about some of our travels while Christopher asks if he could film it(he's a blogger) 😎. I even had to go across the street as a metermaid was writing up my bike and taking pictures because our meter ran out overtime, but she said she would keep the ticket if we put some money in(I told her that we had gotten to talking with an Australian couple and time flew by), another wonderful lady she was. I got back and Christopher and Laura said that they needed to go as their meter was running out too so off Sean and I headed to the Vermont border town of Brattleboro to where Sean could continue to cross into New York. It's been a great 6 days with him riding, wrenching and sharing road stories.
I headed back eastbound and made a few stops along the way for photo ops. I got back home as the sun was going down(8:15) and the temps dropped off to 12c(50°f) chilled to the bone.
I did stop for a burger but was talking with a friend and forgot to take a picture!
Put on 135 miles this ride.....

Great story, Stu. It must have sounded interesting at that table, with all that bike talk in three different versions of "English" ! What a nice way to generate another ride too.

It is good that you were able to support Sean in his quest for Belfast. I'm sure that if he sends out an S.O.S.  as he travels North America, members here will also step in to help. Did you tell Sean to join in with this thread? He may be the only one who could rival lash!

Jim, I happened to be on a dark hilltop a couple of counties away from my suburban home, and it made all the difference. The display went from horizon to horizon. The kids and grandkids were wowed, me too!
I have only seen them one other time, looking north out over Lake Huron near Port Austin. The Lake Huron display was just as intense, but just in the north, and white only, no colors like last night.
Maybe there will be a repeat tonight.

Nice reading and looking guys,!
Stu meeting up with Sean from Belfast  with the interesting ride with details.
Sean has brought his CB750 K2 over the pond to USA?
Same bike he rode from deep Africa back to Belfast? Really amazing.

My holidays to Italy, Jugoslavia and Spain over the Alps or Andorra between France and Spain in my late half of my 20''s,  5000-6000km each are suddenly a smaller trip! ;D ;D

Fantastic Aurora borealis photos, Kevin!

I wonder how that will change the climate? We'll see.
I read it was the most powerful since 20 years back.
