End of Empire
« on: March 16, 2007, 12:03:57 PM »
Tis a sad day indeed my Uk friends. Today, the last bottle of HP sauce was manufactured in Birmingham. With ownership now in  US hands and  manufacturing to be done in the Netherlands, surely this is the conclusive event that marks the end of the Empire.

Be still my bleeding heart (or somesuch)! HP ranks up there with Marmite as a comfort food staple. A very sad day, indeed. And I am unconvinced that the taste will stay the same. We'll see.

Some would say that the Empire started going to the bow-wows when it lost those uppity American colonies. Personally I think it all started going downhill when the Beatles split up.

Not familiar with the product, but judging by the ad campaign, I probably would have bought some. ;)

Well Mick, I've asked the good wife to fry a bunch of moose steaks for supper tonight and I'll raise this subject, and what will probably be the last bottle of Birmingham-built sauce in this house, with my teenage boys, as a  salute to our British ancestry.
If this thread isn't showing the sombreness it should, my fault posting the pic of the lass, but it  appears it took off on a tangent with the post of a certain irreverent Scottish devil. ;D
