No spark........so I missed out on the test & tune
Did I mention that the recommended spark plug gap with the Gerex is .063-.065? I always used the stock .028" until I found that, but I've only increased it to .045". ::) One of the things that first turned me off about the POS Power Arc was that they recommended a smaller gap than stock. ::)

 These old Gerex units still going strong says something about how they were made. Scottly made me re-think my plug gap, I don't really remember where mine are set.
 I really need to set up my CD version of the ARD mag just for nostalgia reasons.

I have found that I am not too old to learn something.............I now have two fried magnetic pick-up units. How?..........I paid $$$ to a professional tech to have all of the electrical connections neatly and 'secured-from-salt' installed for the new IgniTech controller system. What I got was reversed connections to the coils which destroyed the Dyna pick-ups AND one of the IgniTech units that I subsequently installed before I noticed the wiring screw-up. When I went to the tech to get some satisfaction, I was informed he now works for a local John Deere shop. His boss has not returned the promised phone-call.

I just can't believe how stupid I was to trust a trained professional.............1-4 & 2-3 is written on each of the coils. The original custom harness had color-coded wires and connectors for the ease of expected tear-down sessions and my re-assembly. BTW....the IgniTech supplied units are actually Yamaha items readily available on ebay.   

So now I am waiting for parts to do it myself >:(  After acquiring a few add-ons to my tool-chest, I am now confident of my abilities to make a decent looking harness with color-coded wires and sheathing.

What a shame that happened. It was stuff like that, that got me started doing my own work back in the 60's . My CL72 got a bore and new pistons, too bad they were 2 different pistons!.

Maybe have a sit down with his new boss with some photos and conversation might yield him some heartburn at his new employer. Definitely would want to consider leaving feedback on this unprofessional service from that business on multiple online locations to make others aware of the quality of service/after service this place provides...

Skilled trades are suffering in all areas. Automotive machine work is getting harder and harder to get done (correctly), skilled craftsmen in the building/construction trades, even a general purpose household handyman is tough to find that isn’t trying to screw you over. Then there are the truly bad actors whose sole purpose is to steal everything they can. I won’t even let a shop install tires anymore due to the overtightening of lug nuts every single time. Having to use a two foot pipe on my breaker bar to get stupid simple lug nuts loose, broken wheel studs, and distorted rims just makes me want to wretch.

Same here. My C200 developed a high speed miss, which got progressively worse over time. Nothing I did seemed to help, so I finally gave in and took it to the Honda shop in town. They said it needed to be bored and a new piston fitted, which was damn expensive on a paper route budget. When I picked the bike up, they said to take it easy for a while to break it in, so I did. After what I thought was enough time, I started riding it harder, pulling more revs, and the miss was still there. >:( The spark plug was blackish, so I took the carb apart for about the 100th time, and put it back on, leaving off the rubber tube that connected the back of the carb to the spigot in the frame that went to the air cleaner, since it was a pain to get in. I took the bike for a quick ride, and it revved to the moon without a hiccup!! I didn't know what I did this time that was different from the previous 99 times, but I was ready to ride after months, so I fit the air cleaner hose, strapped on my helmet, and jumped on the bike! My excitement lasted for about 50 yards, as the engine started missing as soon as I revved it in gear. >:( >:( The problem was a plugged paper air filter all along. ::)

Getting back on topic, what system are you planning on using now? Are you replacing the destroyed Dyna and keeping it simple?

I would go with the 3 ohm coils instead of the 2.2 ohm coils. What coils were you using before?
BTW, on the subject of batteries, if you do run an O2 sensor, the heating element in it will draw about 1.75 amps, adding to the load on the system.

Friend had a mechanic he knew and trusted for years essentially tell him or through work they had done that resulted in them telling him they needed to rebuild motors in 3 different cars. 1st was a jeep that had never ran right and even jeep dealer couldn't figure out it's issues. 2nd magically needed rebuild after their doing timing belt and it had magically jumped timing afterwards and they were told head was damaged. They did motor swap themselves trailering it home. 3rd was told F250 diesel pickup needed new motor, had finally lost trust, I had occasionally expressed doubts and urged my friend to not trust or use that mechanic. Took it to another mechanic, had some bad injectors and sealing was below spec on compression tests so they had head reworked and top end gone through with injectors replaced and engine sorted. Wasn't cheap but it did Not require the new motor as claimed and no mention of injection issues or leak down issues in previous diagnostic report despite these things supposedly tested.
So, sometimes shops go bad over time, he had used them for 15 years!
Some of that work and recommendations were from owner mechanic, so basically I think they screwed my friend over a few times.
He got his truck back recently and other than a vac hose that split causing check engine light next day it has been running well, wasn't a cheap fix by any means but it was done right.

Thanks, Scott....... I was using 5-ohm units as recommended during the build in 2015........O2 sensor is Maybe going on backup header.........No room for it in Salt Flats running format.

Sooooooo.....My brother has rebuilt a few Cummin's and Cat motors for his small fleet, but his personal F350 4wd-dually diesel needed some turbo-fixing while he was traveling with the 5th-wheel RV. The shop got right at it and had him back on the road in a few days. Oops......while buttoning up the intake a nut was dropped and not found until a few miles down the road..........it was nicely divided between two cylinders with small impressions on the pistons.  The shop had insurance to cover a warranted rebuilt motor replacement, labor, and towing. Its still on the road ;D

Well, if I had the choice of 2.2, 3, or 5 ohm coils, I would chose the 5 ohm for a Dyna. They worked well enough to spin the motor over 11,000 RPM, well past the horsepower peak, so if the bike is pulling at that RPM, you need to re-gear. ;) (The 2.2 ohm coils might be a good fit for a Gerex, though. ;D)

Dyno vs Reality................With air resistance the bike would easily pull above 10,000-rpms in 4th but not much above 9000 in 5th. I changed to a 17t x 43t combo and went no faster. I'm going to try the 3-ohm units but 5s in the trailer.

NET CHANGES for 2024 ATTEMPT: CX-7 Cam; New Valves; Additional Porting to the bowl area just above the slightly sunken seats; Reduced Piston to Chamber Clearance by 0.005"; New Ignition System; Fairing Mods to get 1" narrower; Removable Exhaust Inserts at the Header Junction.....reduced pipe ID at the floor to promote improved scavanging on the overlap.

I checked and Dyna says the coils need to be at least 3 ohms, so the 2.2s are definitely out. The instructions go on to say that the 3 ohm coils shouldn't be used on 550s due to their weaker charging systems.
Are you still planing to do a dyno test for the new setup?
