Topic: CB550 Exhaust gasket question

When I put my new exhaust on I just used the shims and collars.  Is there a header gasket that should be used also, like a copper gasket?  I didnt have them on my bike but was looking at an ebay auction for them and wonder if its needed.

there are both copper gaskets and another material that is sandwiched between two metal rings. I think you need one or the other.
