Numbers Question
« on: June 05, 2024, 12:06:20 PM »
Is anyone knowledgeable as regards production numbers? I am attempting to ascertain how early or late my 1978 750F is by way of the frame/engine numbers. Additionally, is there any way to know if the engine is original to the frame through serial numbers?  Thank you for any/all responses.

Thanks, but how do I interpret my numbers I guess is the question. If I read across I come up with more bikes than they produced. Thank you again.

There is no way of knowing original engine number, not even H onda recorded it, possibly supplying dealer wrote it on invoice but chance of finding that is remote.
Here in UK we can pay Honda UK for a proof of date of manufacture letter but i dont know if Honda US will do that
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Thanks, again. That answers half of the question. The other is how to read my frame/engine number and how they relate to order of production. Thank you for your help.

The numbers are correct, if you frame is CB750F-2207500 then your engine should be  from CB750E-3107000 to CB750E-3108000

It should have month of manufacture on your VIN tag, that would give you an idea of how far through production of that model yours was assembled.
