Soft luggage for F model?
« on: August 31, 2024, 04:54:11 PM »
I’m looking for recommendations for some soft bags that will fit nicely on my 1975 CB750F.

A duffel bag ratchet strapped behind me is always an option but I’m looking for a cleaner solution.

Thanks.

He has a mount frame/rack from Europe on his K2. The rack won't work on the Supersport as it doesn't swing up so the seat can open.

I went there this spring and my phone GPS  sent on a wild goose chase, totally wrong spot across town. I'd ride up with you Andy when it happens unless it's between the 9th-20th this month as I'm staying with my mom while my sis is on vacation.

The rack is from the 70’s.
The luggage system is Kreiga, not cheap, but I can fully recommend it.

Check with Ofreen. Wish I had the picture of his 750F loaded to the hilt during the Relay Ride.

It wasn't quite to the hilt. ;)

I like the Ortlieb dry bag saddlebags.  They are tough and the only way water is going to get in is if they are submerged.  If that happens, you have other worries.  I got them from Aerostich.  Not cheap but they will likely last forever.

Nice ride Ofreen.  Are the bags supported by some kind of rack or frame underneath or do the just rest on the bodywork?

Nelson Rigg has some universal fit reinforced bags that just strap over (or under) the seat very similar to what Ofreen was showing, and length of droop is adjustable.  I have used them from time to time on multi-day rides.  They have really nice soft foamy fabric on the undersides where it may ride on bodywork.  Only thing I did not like was the nylon/plastic strap hardware (like a modern backpack)...I can foresee that getting brittle and breaking.
If it works good, it looks good...

I modified a K luggage rack so it would hinge up at the shock mounts, allowing the seat to open, the rear of the rack rested on two U brackets.

Basically they rest on the shocks.  They are backed by a hard foam padding.  The photo below shows a dent in the foam that hasn't changed in a few thousand miles.
