I have no idea what speed my idle is set to, but a tach is in the mail.

Keep in mind that 50 year old gauges may not be super accurate, could be off by 10%. I set my idle by "ear"

Gotcha I will check out idle speed both ways. 20 year old ears might hear better but don’t have the experience of 50 year old ears

Your ears are most likely better than mine, they have been abused by loud bikes, race cars and rock concerts!!!
