Cliff, what is the cost to submit it for the collector plates, other than time? If not approved are they going to charge you? If they don't take your money if not approved, then I would try to get the plates, worst that can happen is they don't approve it and you lose time to the effort.
Worth the risk in my mind.

A little more done,time for the rear end. New bearings on the way to me, swing arm internals look good, lots of grease in there so no rust showing. Getting deeper into it than I anticipated but still fun.

Bikes seem to “fall apart” on my lift too! Enjoy the journey……..

Cliff, at least you aren't afraid to disassemble, clean, and reassembly things when needed. You learn a lot about a bike or car when you have things broken down to component level. Knowing the vehicle at this level is very satisfying to me. When it is my primary transportation, then things get a bit stressful when you gotta have it back together for going to work or the like...
Glad you are getting to know the bike and getting it into top shape again. Going to be fun when you are riding it around getting to know it.

Good idea to repair/restore as much as possible when apart. Redo things later is not fun.

My K6 wheel bearings were bad after + 20 years parked. They had done around 40.000 km mostly touring. I had earlier replaced them at my job where I had a press and an oven to do it properly. SKF bearings. Felt like sand inside when spinning bearing with finger.

Hi! The seat cover is from PitReplica on eBay https://www.ebay.ca/itm/273462778974 .The fellow that puts them on for me says they are of good quality.
PeWe, new wheel bearings are on Santa's sleigh.The old ones are out. They weren't very gritty but have lots of miles on them and the grease was suspect.

Cliff…. I usually clean out all the old grease from original bearings and then check them out. Often, repacking is all they need and I find it satisfying to keep the old ones in service. Not to mention that some of the stuff we buy today can be pretty crappy!

WD 40 helps to get rid of the adhesive, it takes a lot of rubbing to get the sticky backing off. Goop Off might be better. WD 40 is a good general cleaner too.
The bearings were kind of grotty.Even though the bike won't get many miles on it I felt it best to change them.
The miles it does get may be faster than usual.

Those look like very nice OEM sport wheels;must be light weight also.
