Costing electrical harness/ loop.
« on: October 08, 2024, 06:00:49 AM »
I have recently bought a 78 CB550 which has some issues expected of an old bike as she is. One surprise though is faults with the electrical harness which may mean replacing it entirely. What kind of costs am I looking at here?

$100. For a 1978 cb750. Not sure if there is one for 550k. Look around.

Expensive https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb550k-1978-usa_model7222/partslist/F++25.html What symptoms make you think it needs replacing? Mine is two years older and is fine.

thanks for the input. Sadly the old harness was a patch job with thing electrical tape, bits of tapee, lots of cuts and no soldering. All carefully hidden under the tank. When things warmed up, connections begand to slip... literally. Fortunately, we've managed to sort some of the issues temporarily but with David Silver to the rescue, I have found a Japanese aftermarket. I am already greatly appreciating the accumulative knowledge to be found on this forum. Thank you.
