Hi
Been looking to do this for a long time and had to wait till I got older
Young and stupid back in the early days .Not no more stupid lifting

Got a Barn door track's and hanger rollers from the hardware store and made the cross plates for the top of the trusses .Drilled and taped the flat bar 3/8" flat bar (strong enough for my use)
The track is bolted up under the sealing and bolted up with 3/8" bolts clamping the truss on the top
Best thing I have done in years

It would foolish to expect those tracks to sustain several hundred pounds of weight before pulling the rollers through. There are heavy duty tracks that are rated for commercially heavy doors if you haven’t used them, give them a serious look before you wind up with a bike on your neck and shoulders.

Well tested all ready and working
The track design is made so it cant spread apart and the rollers are also designed to run in the track
the roller's are rated to carry 400lbs per roller set and the rating on the track is also rated to carry 400 lbs over
4 foot span plenty strong for what I need

main trolley has 4 set of roller's so 1600 lbs rating
cross trolley has 2 set of roller's so 800 lbs
My max capacity is 1/4 ton
I have no concern's about the structural design

my max lifting capacity calculated by the structural engineer was easy 800 lbs
more then I need
Big barn doors are heavy figure out a door weight of a 10 X 16 door on a machine shed

I like it…

I don’t know what tracks and trolleys you bought. I can attest the barn doors I have are very heavy.
I’ve seen my doors nearly straight out in a wind storm. Had to use a jack to lift one door end to get one of its trolleys back on track when the stop broke from years of abuse.. I’m sure your new door track and bogies’ published  weight specifications are conservative compared to actual failure tests.. old stuff used to have a 200% cushion… especially overhead ratings…

Looks great to me! The weight of that engine is shared equally across four points, so really not even much of a load. Brilliant!

That looks great HH.
It looks like it moves in both directions? That will make it easy to maneuver the motors to take out and put back in the frame. I like it.
Unfortunately I don't have the ceiling height in my shop to utilize that system, so I will continue with the hoist crane from the floor(after I make a C hook).
