« on: April 06, 2007, 07:02:02 PM »
back to my old bike since i sold my new one a few years back to help the wife out with some cash. its a 76 cb750f ss (9000 miles). took it out of the shed, put in a new battery, turned on the gas, and guess what? started right up after sitting for 5 years. just did the usual stuff today( carbs, oil, brake fluid, spark plugs, and now she runs great. need tires next.chatters like hell at idle. tried to set cam chain tensioner but i am not sure if i did it right. any help would be appreciated. thanks, scott.

You probably have gunked up carbs that need to be disassembled and dunked (in other words....rebuilt). After that and a good synch......she should be golden.

loook in the faq section, there are a few hints to do the camchain adjustment but basically...........

get #1 piston to TDC, remove points cover, take the engine rotation to the top of the advance spring after the timing mark, release the lock nut on the cam chain tensioner, release the tensioner bolt - hopefully you hear a click, then tighten up the tensioner bolt then the lock nut, good to go again, and a bit quieter too.......do up the points cover again..... :)
