         Hey there Tim,

                   Don't know if you know it but the Apache was the best and fastest Enfield with the Indian name on it. 700cc motor w/ a single carb on it and sold for about $1200 when they first came out (I actually was thinking that they came out in 57' but, I could be wrong about that) My Dad and I had a friend who bought the first one that we sold and I thought it was an awesome bike myself! .How much did it go for? I think Ian is busy trying to get his 750 and 1000 V-8's into US.
They are based on Yamaha 400 and 600 inline fours.

         Hey Tim,

              Thanks for posting that ebay listing on that Apache. As you can see, the rear fender is mounted to the frame and that is the only year the rear fender is mounted that way. The 58' and 59' rear fender was mounted to the swing arm and went up and down with the rear wheel. I have always thought it was an ugly feature and never understood why they did it. I can't seem to find a picture of a stock 57' Apache. They were really a sharp looking bike, IMHO. ;) 8) Originally, the fenders were either stainless or aluminum (don't remember which) and unpainted. The headlight was made to be "Quick Detachable". It had smallish chrome panels on the gas tank with the Indian head and name on each panel. The seat was made for rider & passenger. Main colors were red (mostly) and some were black. I've always thought that the Apache was probably the forerunner of the RE Interceptor. But, that's just my opinion. Those old twins had dual drum brakes in the front also, like the 1st year Suzuki GT750s. I've got a set of levers for an old Indian/Enfield twin. Take care.

        Thanks for the kind words Tim, I've been into motorcycles for as far back as I can remember and I am always happy to share what I know about them. On the other hand, I'm always ready to learn to more also. My Dad used to tell me that if you don't learn something new every day, then you are slipping.
