Early exhaust spigot type vs. newer style
« on: April 10, 2007, 02:55:32 AM »
I was wondering if there is any way to change from one exhaust mounting style to another. I have a 77 cb750 and a set of pipes i would like to install but they are for an earlier year (spigot style). Can anyone tell me if this is possible.

as long as your pipes have the flange at the beginning of the pipe you should be good to use either mount.

I was thinking I would just have to remove the studs from the head of the engine and mount the spigots using the proper hardware.

So.. whats to best way to remove a stud without breaking it off inside. My way would be to use 2 nuts and tourqe them together to turn the stud out.

Hi Garrett, this method that you describe worked for me , clean round the base of the studs and spray with some penetrating oil if you can  ;),   cheers mick.
