69 K0 Final shaft oil guide-needed or not?
« on: April 21, 2007, 08:39:37 pm »
Hi all,

My question is if I actually need the Final shaft oil Guide Part # 15621-300-000 and the bolt that holds it in.  It is #10 in the attached picture.  It appears if its only purpose in life is to channel oil out through the final drive shaft to oil the chain.  I plan on shutting off the supply anyway so will it hurt?  Does it have  any other function?

Thanks,

ED

Thanks guys.

I will proceed forward with out them.  Less things to possibly come undone inside.

So Ed, did you just leave this out completely or did you do some sort of mod? Mine is bent up and I’m considering replacing but if I can just leave it out entirely without a mod, I may just do that.

The oiling pan catches splashed oil from the final drive sprocket and dribbles it into the center of the hollow final-drive shaft for the metering screw-seal to lube the chain. It doesn't hold anything on.
