Anybody spend big $$$ on a matress?
« on: April 25, 2007, 10:45:32 AM »
I recently bought a high end kingsize mattress...and I have two say it was money well spent. I Finlay thought about it, it is the most used piece of furniture in the house, so I got rid of my cheap $100 mattress and stepped up to a Aspen model from Denver mattress for more than I paid for my 750 k!!! My arms no longer fall asleep, and I have dreams again! I have not dreamed in YEARS!! I don't toss and turn all night either, I feel 10 years younger.

So I was wondering how many of you have a stupidly expensive bed!

When the missis suggested that we drop $800 for a mattress alone I thought she was crazy. Even though it was at the cheap end of the range it was money well spent.

Last year rather than replace my cheapo mattress with another I splurged for a 2" thick foam pad to use on top of my existing mattress...Temper-Pedic style. Oh what a feeling! No more tossing and turning and I usually wake up exactly where I was when I fell asleep. Sleep is good....good sleep is better.

I once spent 30 bucks on an inflatable mattress when the in-laws came to visit.  Does that count!  It seemed like an awful lot to spend at the time! ;D ;D

Depends on whether you filled in with top air or bottom air.

I've purchased more than one original Tempurpedic.  They are amazing, and nothing like conventional mattresses.  I've never tried a Sleep Number, so I can't compare them.  You may want to check out the Tempurpedic pillows.  They mold to your head, and you don't need to shift them around at night.  I got the standard shaped Tempurpedic pillows -- they also make a U-shaped pillow.

Why bother...my wife makes me sleep on the couch most of the time as she is sick of my pager going off all night!!! Hell if it was 5 degrees warmer I would bust open my tent trailer and sleep under the car port!!

I sleep on the couch, that way I not only have more money for bike parts, but the wife can't say she made me sleep there.

I tried a tempurpidic, it was nice, but the Top line denver matress i bought has thier version of tempurpidic on it about 5 inches worth and it was acctualy softer and more supportive than the tempurpidic bed! and $1000 less!
