Hey Bobby,  Thanks for posting that. Sure took ME back alright. I remember most all of what was brought up in that presentation. 8) Myself, I could go on back into the 50's too. ;) Only thing is, I start to really miss some of those things and also people (who aren't here any more). Those were some great times though. When the Rock and Roll music went out, I turned more to Country Western of that time and listened to 50's & early to mid 60's Rock & Roll, when I could. ;D

Dogone that brings back memories. I was a youngun in the 60's. Turned 13 in 70.

But, I bought the Beatles 45 "Hey Jude" with it came out, (i must have been 11)
Cool Hand Luke was the movie,
8 tracks were in (even till the 70's)
It seem folks believed they could make a difference to.
And late 60's rock has never been surpassed.

Oops had to come back and add this,

who couldn't play wipeout on their desk in school?
who didn't no most of the words to "For what it's worth"?

wow, I could go on.

Great post their Bobby!

Trivia question; who came first, Fats Domino or Chubby Checker?

I was watching Howdy Doody when Claribelle finally talked- to say goodbye.  Cried my eyes out.  Daniel Boone coonskin hats and Roy Rogers 6 shooters.   Anybody in the Cleveland area remember Ghoulardy? Turn blue you purple k-nif (fink spelled backwards).  Trolls.  racing stripes.  Clutch Cargo with lips that really moved.   Shopping at Sears in the Husky dept (I was a little over weight).  Corduroys with tiny flecks of colour in them.  Madras shirts.  Indians were just used motorcycles.  Triumphs were huge bikes and I longed for a Honda Sport 90 (the 305 was a big machine, too)  A friend let me drive his parents Corvair convertible and I was seeing my Mom behind every tree.
My first ever album was Paul Moriat's "Love Is Blue". The next was The Soulful Strings   Black kids were allowed to wear dashikis, but when I showed up to school in one, I got sent home to change.  Boy was I mad.  (yeah, Bill, I started making trouble early on  ::))  Telephne numbers started with the first 2 letters of a word, and in rural ares was only 4 numbers.  You can't get through to a business on a rotary phine anymore because there's no buttons to push.   We used to put sugar on our Frosted Flakes while we sat in our underwear watching Mighty Mouse.  One of my favorite quotes comes from Gunsmoke; "If you don't like the answer, don't ask the question."
OK.  I'll sit down now.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

         Hey there Uncle,

I hear ya about the old stuff you brought up. I'm sure I saw the last Howdy Doody but, for the life of me I can't seem to remember Clara Belle finally talking, to say good bye. Not that I'm doubting you. Yeah, I watched that show, Captain Kangaroo (when he had to be made up to look old), a show called "Pinky Lee", Soupy Sales, Super Man w/George Reeves, 3 Stooges, Abbott & Costello, Laurel & Hardy, Sky King,(cowboys) Gene Autry, Roy Rogers & Dale Evans, Lash LaRue, Bob Steel, Johnny Mack Brown, Hopalong Cassidy, Cisco Kid, (cartoons) Cocoa The Clown, & Mighty Mouse. It just dawned on me that what I'm talking about was actually in the 50's! AAAGGGGGGHHHHH!!! Musta been one of those "Senior Moments"! ::) I'm outta here for now. ;)

I hate to say it but in 1970 I had already been to Woodstock. I believe that Fats preceded Chubby. My first record was Chubby Checkers twist album. Damn I am getting old.

I worked in a large beachfront milk bar when I was about 14. Scooping ice creams and making milk shakes all day. Hey "Bloody" Jude was number one with a bullet. Every mofar that walked into the milkbar from 07.30 AM until 10.00 PM played that damn song. It was like torture, I wouldn't have minded if it was the Doors or Hendrix or someone at least who could hold a tune!!!!  I used to watch the customers walk up to the juke box and run a finger down the play list and stop at you know where, then I knew I was for it again....Arrrggghhhh

One of the happiest decades of my life. What a great presentation.

And, of course, living in England meant that we watched the departure of the invading pop groups.

I actually did have a good time for most of the Sixties. I think the UK and the US saw a big change in culture. It was also a very confusing time. But, maybe when you are young all times are confusing. Glad you enjoyed it, when I saw it I knew i had to share it here. Peace Love and Woodstock.

A good bike mechanic only needs two tools, WD40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move, but should, use the WD40. If it does move but shouldn't use the duct tape.
