cb450 - tachometer/odometer question
« on: May 02, 2007, 05:58:15 PM »
I have this bike I am restoring and one of the remaining mysteries is how my tach cable and odometer cable return from the instrementation to their respective spots on the bike-one being the bottom of the fork and the other going to the side of my engine. The first is not threaded and just seems to plug into the space it goes into yet nothing seems to keep it in there really....the second is threaded (female) but requires a male-threaded application on the sid eof the engine...and there is a spot for this which makes me think I am just missing a very small part.

Trouble is I can't see this in my parts catalogue so I am wondering if someone could tip me off about a visual out there somewhere or any kind of help really.

Thanks,

Lokai

The speedometer cable plugs into the sppedometer drive on your front hub, and there should be a machine screw that then holds it in place. You should see the small (4mm?) hole in the hub where the screw goes, and if you look at the bottom end of the cable, you'll see a recess in the cable end where the screw shaft holds it in place.

I don't remember how the tach cable attaches. If memory serves, it works the same way, but I may be mixing up my memory between the 350 and 450. My 450 is across town, or I'd pop outside to check for you.

Thanks Cowboy!

I am going to work on my bike tomorrow so I will make sure to check this out asap.

Every picture I try to surf is never zoomed in enough so it is still hard to tell. If anyone has a good visual reference send it on my way.
