Add that mod to the one in my sig. That way you'll have a fully electronic voltage regulator that is much more efficient than the "three-position" regulator. Instead of the voltage varying in steps, it keeps the voltage constant so surges of current won't heat the connections nearly as much.

Yeah, I like it! And I happen to have an old ford regulator sitting on the shelf.  I'll bet I could use the diode pack out of a GM 10SI alternator instead of the Honda rectifier too. Oh well, back to the fabrication bench!
