Car suspension question
« on: May 10, 2007, 07:10:27 PM »
My stock Honda Prelude has a very creaky suspension. Any idea if this is rubber on metal or just creaky metal or How to Stop the Creaking??? ???

Could be worn out bushings (control arms, sway bar, etc).  Crawl under there with a can of spray silicone and shoot each bushing one at a time untill the noise goes away.  Once you find it- replace it!  ;)

I would agree, as it is prob. a worn/torn bushing..
Silcone spray is a temp fix, but it does work to shut things up  ;D

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I'll try it. I've checked out some strut bushings on ebay. Energy Suspension is selling some self lubing bushings for about $20.

Are the ball joints and tie rod ends the originals that have no grease fittings? When they get old and dry out they will squeek.

Ball joints and control arm bushings if  there are many miles on it a broken spring or anti roll bar link isnt out of the question.I am not a big fan of spraying the componants with any thing until I know what the problem is.Get a floor jack and give it a good look and shake a  squeek is not a big deal a loose ball joint socket can be.Good luck

I think its the bushings on the struts. The car has 240,000 miles and is all original. It runs like a Honda. I dont think there are grease fittings on the suspension. Thanks for the opinions.
