Computer/printer help?
« on: May 11, 2007, 09:47:53 AM »
I guess my Dell is too old to get any support online...  Dell computer running Windows XP and a Lexmark Z65 printer.  I fanally want to print a picture, but it only comes out 2x3" vertically, no matter what the picture is.
Anyone know how I can change the format?

Uncle E, I don't do much (if any) printing of photos, but I tried going into the options to see if I can figure something out for you.  I have Windows XP.  I know old Windows used to have a way to resize the picture on the page.  I didn't see that option, but maybe you can find it.

Rather than try to print through viewing software, I right clicked on the actual file and a menu came up.  I selected print from that and a Windows picture printer program launched.  On one or maybe more than one menu screens there was an advanced button.  Try playing around with that and see if you can find something.  You may want to turn your printer off so it won't print while you experiment; however, before you print, you will need to cancel any print jobs you may have sent while experimenting.  Once the print que is cleared, turn the printer on and try to print.

Sorry if this is more confusing than it's worth.

Uncle E,

What software viewing or photo editing are you using and trying to print from?
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

"Dell Picture Studio"
I'll try that right click bit and see what happens.  I'm too artisitc and sensitive for these machines.  I'm sure a lot of folks here have felt that about me...

Well- then I'd have to get a boat first.
I figured out that under "Files" there are other things besides "Print"- like "Print Layout"
Thanks for all the love I was feeling from the Forum.
Finally getting around to sending Inky some pictures from his ride out here last Fall.

Can't speak for your set up, but with my XP set-up when I click on the 'file' button at the top of the page I want to print, then click 'print' it walks me through the precise size of the image I want to produce...full page, half page, 5x7 etc. And this is the programme that I assume is part of the XP portfolio....

Im not sure if your still having the problem but... the easiest way I know of to select printed picture size and lay an assortment of pictures out on a page for printing in XP is: open the picture in "Window's Picture Viewer" then click the printer icon on the bottom of the screen, Windows will guide you through the rest.
