Saturday was a great day for riding
« on: May 13, 2007, 09:08:46 PM »
After a dismal, cloudy start, the sun burst out about 11am and warmed up the air making for a great day of riding. I managed 130 miles through the Michigan countryside. Had lunch at Smittys in Hell, yes Hell, Michigan, a popular biker stop. I heard a couple "I used to have one of them" from the Harley guys, but as for me, I still can't believe that my bike is looking so good, and running pretty good too. I just love those 6500rpm shifts.

I can't wait for my next ride.

I should have mentioned that my bike was blessed for the first time ever, by Pastor Ken, just before my ride into Hell.

Hell is about a 3 hour roundtrip from Detroit, and is near some of SE Michigans best cycle roads - which are nice but not in the same league as many other places. Scenic but not too challenging.

Hey Bob Wessner, where is that Candy Red K0? Is it out and about or still coming together?

Kevin,

Still coming together. Finally got around to starting to put it back together today. Got stumped right off the bat with the forks and ears. When I removed them a couple of months ago prior to taking all for painting I tried cleaning up the rubber grommets at the top and bottom of the fork ears. Sprayed them with some silicone and just left them for the time being. Big mistake. The solvent carrier seems to have caused them to swell. Now nothing fits. >:( Waiting on some replacements, which in retrospect would have been a good idea.. but a better idea had I done it two months ago. ;)

Duster, my CB was parked for 15 years while I raised 4 kids and worked too much. If I had a do over, I'd work less and ride more. I got chills up and down my spine on my first return ride.
