Another one back from the dead...
« on: May 27, 2007, 06:26:49 PM »
It ain't a SOHC, but I just resurrected a '72 Kawa G5 (100 cc stroker Enduro). Cleaned the carb, new plug, fresh premix and it started on the first kick.

Rode it around the backyard a bit this evening -- most fun I've had back there with my pants on in a long time.

 ;)

Had to share...

We need a pic.  Love it when it goes like that.

LOL!  It's a ratty thing I found under a friend's tree, but it should be a blast for trail riding.  It's dark here now, but I'll try to post something soon...

Only 1200 or so miles and everything works, but it's been neglected. Running on premix -- when I have the time, I'll go through the pump and make sure it's working.

I'm not going to restore it, just keep it running. It'll soon be on my family farm in GA. Fun little thing!

Had one of those out in portland or. Real fun little thing.

Used to go hill climbing behind some supermarket
had a big hill from an empty lot up to the parking lot of the supermarket, kids used to push shopping carts down the hill to watch them crash.
we'd clear out a launching area and climb.  one day heading up that hill the bike slipped out of gear, and without thinking I just kicked it back in without letting off the gas.  Front end came up and went flipping on down the hill, ended up sitting inside a shopping cart, with the bike laying over it.  after repairs and a week to recuperate, we decided we needed to clear a larger area for any more playing there.

pump went out while cruising down burnside one day, pushed it over to my buddies house and never got around to fixing it.

Ken.

When I was a kid, my bike was a SL90 and the shopping center was a power plant about a half mile from the house.  Buddy had a stripped down CB160 and we raced each other -- I had him on the twisties, since his gearing was FUBAR'd, but I couldn't keep up on the straights.  Did the same kind of hill climbing -- once watched a guy tumble a new Hodaka and bend the snot out of it.  My SL90 made it up just fine -- ya gotta lean over the bars!
