I like it because it's so "british" and is a parody of themselves. Can you imagine a similar self-piss-take done by Harley about the VRod?

I agree, this is somethings the Brits do well and I admire them for it.

I grew up on 'Python and the rest; my Ecosse blood cringes at my own Anglophile tendencies.

Well, I'm proudly born and bred in the U.S. but half Scot by blood. I'm also a fan of the Ecurie Ecosse team and two of their more famous prodigies Sir Jackie Stewart and that farm boy Jimmy Clark.

Jimmy Clark's Ford-powered Lotus is on display at the Henry Ford Museum (near where I live)- The one that he drove to victory in the 1965 Indianapolis 500 Mile race. Too bad he was killed in a racing crash a couple years later... :(

Ahhh, the sixties. Before racing machines became high speed bill boards and the Brits OWNED motorsport. Sorry Ferrari! And in those golden years when national colors reigned, a white and red car from the east made its debut. Too bad Honda sucks in F1 these days... there, I said it!

Strange isn't it.  Honda and Toyota just can't hack it with the F1 boys, the Brits breathe on the Cosworth, Merc and BMW engines, put them in a decent chassis and clean up!

Oh and of course there's our new star(let).

New star(let)? You're not referring to Lewis Hamilton are you?  From the first GP I was a fan, well actually it was following an interview and noted champion quality in the kid. I firmly believe it takes more to being a champion than winning races, it takes character and class. Alonso, while good behind the wheel, is a primadonna among primadonnas and the new kid in his seventh race is rattling the Spaniard. As for Honda, the privateer Honda team is threatening to embarrass the works team. I should end on a motorcycling note; if one goes to Jay Leno's Garage (he an ex-New Englander and half Scot, see how I squeezed all that in?) you can see his street legal replica racer Honda. Watch the video clip too! Gotten quite off the subject haven't we?  ;D

LOL! The car Jimmy Clark drove had a derivative of the Ford Fairlane V-8 (nicknamed the "Bundle of Snakes") that was fitted with elaborate DOHC heads That were reversed from the conventional setup- instead of the intake manifold feeding the cylinders from the center of the V and the exhaust manifolds hanging off the side of each cylinder bank, the exhausts were placed in the center of the V. This made for a sweet-looking racecar, but a nightmare for locating the intake components!

Great photo! If I ever break up the 'cycle' of Honda wallpapers this will be it!! I had forgotten about that early Ford as well. I'd like to see Octane magazine do a piece on that. Jay Leno writes a column for them don't ya know.
