Topic: Head gasket leak = Lower oil pressure??

When I bought my bike I noticed the PO cleaned the cylinders really well. So I didn't think nothing of it except, he must like to keep his bikes very clean. This the 400F with 23k miles on the clock that I've posted sometime back.

After riding for 200miles I notice the head gasket has some weeping from the left side of the engine.

It's not very much, and only after 200 miles, it just needs a quick wiping.

My question is, could I be loosing oil pressure from this leak cause of the o-rings that sit there???

So after finding this out, I take the 400f out to the back roads of Peninsula, Ohio for the first time on Sunday.

Many hills ranging from 15 - 30 degrees

After 120 miles, I come to this light and it won't change even after 2 mins +. So I take a legal  u-turn and head back home the backway.

I come home and now notice my rocker cover gasket that I just replaced this season is starting to make a nickel size puddle on the left side of the engine.

I know I cleaned it perfectly, cause this is my second time I've done this. Previous 400f's I had.

Could this long period of sitting cause the engine to overheat?? Would the high revving have caused this??

I really don't want to spend another $27 dollars for this rocker cover gasket and it fail on me in less than 320 miles.

If you had an external leak big enough to affect oil pressure, you'd pump all of the oil out in a minute or two. Not a worry.
The rocker cover "O-ring" gasket is usually pretty leak-free, and there should be no pressure across it to force oil out. Is your breather tube plugged or kinked allowing pressure to build up in the engine?

I did uncap the end of the breather tube that goes right behind the rear tire. Right where the rest of the carb drain tubes are.

Just a drip of oil came out. I will unplug the hose and thoroughly check it tomorrow.

Could it be that the rocker cover warped?? Do you think overheating could have caused this??

I wonder if I have a crack in the cover...... It only seeps out when running around 4k rpm and a couple of miles.
 To bad it won't leak when it sits at idle.
