Ok some of you guys said that the stator/rotor can go bad on these bikes causing the ignition to advance and blow a hole in the piston. If that is what's wrong with my bike, is there a place to get a new part for it or just go with an e-bay or junkyard one? I'm still at a loss how this exactly effects the timing of the bike . . . . any aftermarket ignition kits for these?     bike is a 79 cm400T1

Alright, I keep looking and can't find much about this damn bike online. I'm hearing two stories though, some say the stator goes bad and needs to be replaced, others are talking about a "trigger unit"  what is this trigger unit you speak of? I should order a clymer book for this guy soon, hmmm . . . . again, any aftermarket stuff for the ignition system. I was even thinking about just going with an old-school 450 T engine and run points. again, hmmm . . .  there is even less info out on this bike than my old '73 CB500!  Glad I have a 750 too :)
