« on: July 07, 2007, 08:32:03 AM »
I've got just 250 miles on my k4 and i hit a gd DEER at 50 or 60 mph!!  She didn't knock me down, but I got busted headlight, bent ears and dented fender.

Just had to tell somebody.

Go buy lottery tix right now. Really.
I dunno about the deer call though - at least 80% of the deer hits at the local body shop (Central OR) are wearing them!
Happy trails!

All I remember is a great big brown furry thing going across the handlebars and knocking me into a countersteer.

Well, gotta go pick hairs out of the headlight.

YIKES!!!  My worst nightmare.

I hate you messed up your bike, but I'm glad you were unhurt.  You were extremely lucky and it could have been A LOT worse.

If you were a cat, I would say you just used one of your 9 lives.   ;)

I hope luck comes in three's.

I guess it's time to look at the spare fork ears in the basement.

Got any recommendations on a headlight, bucket is cracked and chipped but not broken?

OK I got the retaining ring 33121-300-672, setting ring 33153-300-671 and rim 33101-405-671 bent.  I could live with the case 61301-300-020B.

Any body know if this stuff is worth straightening?

I hope the dent in the fender put a hurting to Bambi.

Nope, don't think I got a clear shot.  Came out of a bush and didn't give me a chance to aim.

Read your post Derek.  Amazing.

I've hit birds squirrels, raccoons, possums, skunks and a lot of things i didn't recognize.  This is the first time I've hit something bigger than me.

I'm a returning rider that rides in the morning because Baltimore traffic scares me in a Buick.  Now I gotta look for deer.  It's disappointing.  Deer are almost as unpredictable as Baltimore traffic.  Damn thing is, you can't see them.

i was riding thru the mountains in n. pennsylvania with my pop and his best friend. my dad went past and a doe ran between us. then a big ass buck jumped the road and clipped the guy in backs front tire and he wiped out. i turned around and couldn't find the rider, just his bike on its side. i look over the edge (about 20-30 foot drop) and he's hangin onto this little f-in weed growing out the side of the ravine just like on the cartoons. he just retired from camden police n.j. all he kept saying was "30 years in the countries most dangerous city and i get killed by a f-in deer".

Glad u are here to tell us about your mishap.
When I worked at a v-twin shop we lost about 2 customers a season from hitting deers..
Consider yourself VERY  lucky !

Another good reason to build a chopper, the drag pipes alone would scare the deer away. You stockers have those quiet pipes, no wonder the deer keep finding you ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

But Jeff, sound is 100% directional!  I can't remember ever being rear-ended by any deer  ;D

You bikers with loud pipes just give me a headache when I have to ride behind you  :D

Ah, but I must disagree. You can always hear a loud bike coming, perfect for warning wildlife.

As for riding behind me, you just go right ahead and go in front, I don't mind being tail wheel ;D ;D ;D ;D
