another michigan noob

Been Lurking for a while, picking your brains, and thought it's about time I introduced myself.  I bought a 1974 cb550 a year ago and have finally got it running. This was my first bike.  I  bought it cause I thought it was a cool looking bike.  I'll admit I had know idea about the subculture behind it. I thought I'd buy it and just ride it, little did I know, whether you want to or not if you have one on these bikes your going to have to get your hands dirtier.  I knew absolutely nothing about motorcycles, but am learning fast (thanks in part to this site).  I live about twenty minutes outside of Detroit.   I have a wife and two kids and teach fourth grade.  Part of the reason I got a bike is that I have been skateboarding for twenty years, and it seemed like a natural progression.  I've found their both alike in that while your doing them, you can't have your mind anywhere else.   Thank you in advance for your input and advice on my ridiculous questions.  -Scott

Welcome from SoCal.  I used to skateboard in the '70's.  Maybe I should get back into it? (my 46 year old body just gave me the evil eye).

Welcome, and good on ya for staying with your bike after you discovered it was going to be a dirty hobby. :-)
