Morgan Carbtune

;D   I used my Morgan Carbtune for the first time today and can only praise the Lil bugger.  When cutting the hoses and dampers, I ran a tiny wire thru the damper to be certain there wasn't a burr. I also color coded the hoses with a dab of model paint on both ends, to ease the identification process. The only flaw i saw in the system is that 2 of the 5 mm adapters should be long enough to be able to screw them in and out by hand,  I had to cheat and do the "no no" of using a screwdriver as the threads were too hard to turn with a hose, and the angle is incorrect to use a ball point pen.    ::)     I have a old JC Whitney set of gauges, albeit 25 years old, and there is absolutely no comparison..spend the extra $50.     I also got the carrying pouch, which is a waste of money as one has to remove the hoses to get things to fit. the bottom line, the carbtune makes synchronising carbs a 10 minute job, if that long.     :D

I got mine in the mail yesterday and plan on using it on 3 bikes this weekend so it's nice to hear that it makes it an easy job.

They are "Slick as Snot".  I still like having the case to keep everything together.  I would loose all the little bits with out it.

Motion Pro  makes and sells the 4  5mm brass adapters separately.  $13.99 in the Dennis Kirk catalog and I'm sure others carry them.  I've had mine for a couple of years and it sure is handy compared to the vacuum set I had before

I still have the brass screw in fittings from some cheap ass gauges I used to use on my old Z bikes. I haven't tried to use them with my carb tune yet but I will next time. They have the long ones for the middle carbs and I think they will be easier to use than the crappy plastic ones you get with the carb tune.

Tip: If you see a sudden drop in level on one of the meters, chances are one of the hoses melted onto your exhaustheader and now has a hole in it  :'(

Trick: If you do let one of them melt onto your header, remove the see-trough dampers and throw away the 10 cm. ends. Then cut the hose where you burnt it, and cut the other 3 at the same place. Now reinsert the dampers here. It's probably not reading the same, but it still works fine and it's cheaper than buying new hoses.

Got my Morgan in 1999 when I did the carbs on my 1977 CB750K. I had that bike since it was new and I truely believe it never ran that good once I did the carbs and used the Morgan.  Very nice product and well worth the money.  Now I have to use it on my 1970 CB750 soon.

don't know how many have seen this, but motion pro now sells a "mercury free" version of the carb syncronizer. for those who were unable to buy this product due to shipping policies, you can now afford one hassle free. looking into purchasing one myself.

z1enterprises.com carries them for about $85 plus s/h

I absolutely love my Morgan, I don't know how I survived without one...

No shipping problems from the UK.

A friend of mine had made brass extension tubes to screw into the carbs I need to make some up and I'll post a "how to".

I just finished sync on the 1970 CB750K with my Morgan.  Here is what I did without the extensions and it was really easy to get the #2 & 3 ports in and out with no problems.  I just took some stiff vacuum hose and put it on the end of the adaptor and screwed it in.  When it slipped that was tight enough.  I took them off the same way.

FWIW, they also sell some replacement adapters for the port screws. They just have caps on them.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.
