chrome bar around seat?
« on: July 08, 2005, 06:00:37 PM »
my 76 cb 550k has a chrome bar going around the back of the seat above the fender. it also holds the rear turn signals. is there any drawback to removing this? is there another way to mount the rear turn signals(stock)?this piece is pretty rusted. any suggestions?

I believe the bar was added to assist in getting bike off the center stand. Without it, folks tended to grab the back of the seat pan and it and its fasteners weren't intended to take this kind of force so they ended up damaged. Earlier 750's had a short bar on the left side only.

Take a look in the Classifieds - there's one for sale (doesn't look rusty at all)

I might still have one from a 75 CB550 laying around, I'll have to check later today.  If I find it I'll post pics.
