Topic: the low Hi

Where did the low hi come from?  You say "Whats the low hi?"  the low hi is the wave that a passing motorcyclist gets around my area(southeastern Washington).  I've also seen it done in Montana by passing motorcyclist.  What happened to "tipping your hat" or "just a nice wave" or a "node of the head".  It maybe a easy slide off your handlebar expression that is safer than picking up your arm and waving, where that could  be mistaken for flicking a bugger or flipping an ash or something. Is it a HD thing?  Is it a Honda thing? Just seems like the low hi is in!  Your thoughts

You'd look pretty goofy with your hand up in the air waving at someone    It's the equivalent to a nod of the head, but easier to see.  Just drop your left hand off the bars and let aerodynamics take over.
