carb crisis!!!!!!!!
« on: August 13, 2007, 06:35:09 PM »
ok so everything was going good. one carb was already cleaned for the second time and put back together. this time using the stock jets and needle. i was about done with the second carb when i was installing a screw in jet (slow jet) and it tore itself in half!!! i wasnt putting a lot of torque on this thing either. it just split in half. the real drag of this story is that i dont have a replacement. the rebuild kits only came with a couple jets, but not this one. the one i broke has a 38 written on the top of it, and no hole through the top of it. does anyone know where i can get this part?? i need it FAST! i deploy to kuwait in 2 weeks!!

Sorry, I don't have anything for the 450.  Have you tried the Dealer?
Or try some of the links from here

Just goto your local Honda dealer and order a new one........maybe $3.00 for a slow jet. They will have to order it.....but will be in within 3-4 business days.

If they tell you the bike is too old to order parts for it....tell them to check the fiche system.....its still listed will all the parts and part numbers.

Slow jet part number:
JET, SLOW (#38)
Part# 99124-292-0380  $5.89

Greg

P.S. Stay away from aftermarket carb kits(k&L, KEYSTER...ETC)........they will create more problems than they will solve....DONT THROW AWAY YOUR OLD PARTS!

Let me guess, they say it without even trying to make it look like they checked.  Have them check with Honda online.  It's called InHonda I have a real hard time believing a jet is discountinued.  I'll check with my local guru tomorrow.

Edit next day-  My guru checked and they are discontinued!  He checked #s 35 -42.  All discontinued.

Does it look like this?

This is off a '75 550K, 022A carbs (my junk set).  It's a #38 slow jet.

The parts fiche lists it as part # 99124-076-0380 which is NOT your part number.  I can't tell if it's the same or different from the crappy fiche pictures.

Ah-ha! better picture was found!  Is yours a 2-part jet?  This is only a 1-part thingy, what you see is what you get.
Actually runs --> 1975 CB550-K1

nope thats not it. i have spares of those. on my carbs, that part screws into the carb body and the pilot jet screws in over that. its the pilot jet that broke in half. tomorrow im going to look through a salvage yard and see if i can get something.
