Definately different.  One review says it looks like laminated flooring  :D  I'm wondering if you crash with this thing on you melon, do you have more injuries from splinters????  :o

Don't knock it, bamboo is really tough stuff. I still have a bamboo fishing rod that my father made in 1911, OK it's not usable any more but neither are crash helmets after just a few years, if you value your head.

Do termites like bamboo? :D From what I hear, bamboo flooring is pretty durable stuff.
