Yeah, I know that it's an AUTOMATIC. ::) Not much on THAT part, but at least it's a 750 and the price was right (just had to rent a trailer and go about 100 miles to get it). Now, it has been said that the carbs are different on these. I need some details on that because this bike hasn't run in a couple of years or so and  the motor turns over good so, I figure I'm gonna need to clean those carbs out and I'd like to know what I'm getting into before I start. ;D I've got a Chilton's manual on the CB750 SOHC4s with some info on it and I've also got an "Official Honda Shop Manual on the CB750A" (so it says on the front of the manual) Anyone out there with some words of wisdom? Once I get this sucker running, I've got to deal with putting a headlight on it (it had a Wind Jammer on it), making sure all of the lights work, clean it up (it is in bad need of that) and detail it out (probably a paint job & a lot of polishing)  Any input would be appreciated.

Carbs are same type as 77/78 CB550K3 but there is just as little information on them! Only problem is the "press fit" idle jets---other wise cleaning is all samey same

Thanks for the info there Bryan. ;) I was beginning to think that this thread had dropped off into a "Black Hole" or something. I'm sure that this one will be a learning experience for me, as I've never been into a 750 SOHC before. Maybe I can eventually graduate onto a full fledged 5sp model later on. ;D

I easily found the carb kits for my 750A online. I think they were Keyster kits, but it was a couple years ago. It was my first time rebuilding carbs and they seemed straightforward. If you have a true factory service manual as I do, it will help with things like the electric switched vacuum actuated dashpot, which by the way doesn't seem to do much. Most importantly, don't be embarrassed by your Hondamatic. Mine is in maybe 80 percent condition. I took it to a local bike rally yesterday (Ephrata, PA). I got so much favorable response to it, I plan to clean it up better and go back next month. I could have stood next to it all day answering questions. Hondamatics flopped in the late 70s. Now lots of people are buying big scooters. My primary bike is much newer and faster, but riding in traffic with my left hand on my hip is fun. I have also gone over 100mph. Try that on a maxi-scooter.

Hey sammon, think you might be able to upload a copy of that factory manual? Or make a copy and send it to bill? If we can get it online, it will be a helpto our auto riding bros.

Daniel, Thanks for the info on the differences of the carbs, Appreciate that! ;)

sammon, Thanks for the additional info morale booster for having an "automatic" too. So, my 750A just might crack 100, huh? Nice to know. 8) At least, compared to one of those Large Scooters, I'll be riding a SOHC750! ;)

eldar, Thanks for asking sammon about the manual, I've got one that came with the bike and I would scan and send it myself except for 2 things. My cheap pc isn't capable and neither am I. :-\ Closest I could come, would be to make an actual copy and mail it through USPS. Maybe sammon could and would be able to do one though. BTW, I even found an owners manual under the seat in that little compartment. ;) I'm gonna see about getting that sucker ready to "attempt to start" asap.

Congratulations.  I like redheaded stepchild/underdog models.  Sorry to hear of your pops' problems though.  I wonder if you could convert it to a K model without too much trouble.  Would it be as simple as a different engine/transmission and left hand controls?

Is it completely automatic, or do you still have a shifter -just without a clutch?  I remember a little trail bike I had as a kid that you shifted without a clutch that was pretty fun.

From what I know so far, it has a torque converter and a high and low gear. I think the frame is built different that the standard model too. It's got a parking brake and when you put the side stand down, it is automatically shifted to neutral. I'm sure there are other things I haven't mentioned, I'm still learning. ::)

Ah Tim, I don't think I'll be doing anything like that my friend. ::)
I'd hate to be the one responsible for you getting headaches, trying to figure out where you might want to use those aluminum rims. ;D You know that I'm just trying to look out for you, right? ??? ;D ::) You are a true friend, trying to rid me of those "Cursed Aluminum Wheels." Guess I'd better keep them and bear the consequences. :-\ ;D
