Hello from Michigan's Upper Peninsula **Now with photo**
« on: September 06, 2007, 01:00:47 PM »
Hello everyone, I've been watching the forum for a couple of months now, and have just now got around to posting for my first time.

I am a 21 year old student, new to motorcycling and mechanics in general.  I just bought my first bike, a 1975 Honda CB550f.  I worked at a Harley dealership for the last 2 summers, and finally got the bug and had to have my own bike.

As of now, it does not run but it did a couple weeks ago.  I need to pull the plugs and check them out, and I am having issues with my charging system.  My battery will not hold a charge.
I just got a box of parts to install which includes:
-points
-plug wires
-mirrors
-muffler (Dunstall replica reverse-cone)
-Uni pod-style filters
-new oil filter bolt (the one on the bike is stripped horribly)
-K&N oil filter

I have to tear the carbs apart and clean/rebuild them before I can do much more with the bike, but I also have a Clymer manual now for the bike, so it shouldn't be too tough an undertaking.  Pictures are soon to follow.
-Casey

Welcome from a fellow student. I just recently joined the world of motorcycling and mechanics as well, though I've been into bikes since I was little.

Ditto, could it be Marquette? Though the wife and I are "trolls," we just returned from our annual vacation in the U.P. over at Lake Gogebic.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.
