Neutral and oil pressure wiring on '76 cb750k
« on: September 12, 2007, 05:03:30 AM »
Hi,

I have my motor assembled, including starter and realized that a neutral wire evidently is supposed to pass through the starter housing?  I have a couple of questions about this as well as the connection at the bottom of the case (oil pressure wire?).

1) What does the neutral wire connect from and to?  Is it part of the harness?
2) What does the bottom case connection connect to?

Thanks!

are you asking about the neutral indicator light...that runs from your dash through the harness to a switch in the transmission.  Should be diagramed in the manual.  Oil pressure light is the same.  Or are you talking about a neutral (ground) for the starter?

I'm not entirely sure and I'm not getting a clear picture from any of my manuals but there is a plug that goes into the back of the cylinder near the starter and another one on the bottom of the case.  I didn't see a ground for the starter or I'm not remembering but I'll have to look at that diagram again.

The wire for the neutral light is connected to a switch underneath the motor on the left hand side. The wire for this comes from the short harness and is coloured light green and red. There is a slot to pass the wire under the motor
The oil pressure switch is next to the cam chain adjuster and the wire is coloured red and blue. This wire passes through a slot in the starter motor housing.
Both wires come from the same short harness which connects to the alternator.

Thanks Clyde, this is exactly what I needed.  I guess I have to pull the starter to route the oil pressure wire though :/

No you should not have to remove the starter to route the oil pressure wire.....

No need to remove the starter, just the starter cover.
